Hello and welcome to my blog! I am a 20-something year old living the suburban life outside of Washington, DC. I am originally from a small town in southeast Michigan, and I went to college in northwest Ohio and to graduate school in Brooklyn, NY. By day, I am a Program Manager in homeless services, and at night and on weekends, my new love is blogging.

Left: Summer 2014, Right: Our elopement at Showalter’s Orchard in the Shenandoah Valley

I’m a newlywed!! My husband and I eloped on 10.12.14, after almost 12 years together. He’s the love of my life and my number one fan. He is the reason I love love. We are currently on the Dave Ramsey plan to get out of debt, so for now, we’re homebodies on a strict budget.

My Decadent Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake

I’ve loved baking since I was a kid, but I didn’t realize it was my passion until a few years ago. I discovered the Food Network in 2004 and watched it non-stop for the next 7 years (until we gave up cable!). Giada De Laurentiis is my inspiration because her recipes are simple and elegant, yet decadent. I’ve always said I’d love to bake more often, and now I have a reason to—I’ll be honest though, it’s tough while on a budget! You’ll also find savory dishes on this blog because I love to cook too!

My Super Cheesy Macaroni & Cheese

Reading has been my go-to past-time since I can recall. Before I could read, I used to beg my mom to read to me all.the.time. I’ve never not had a book in hand. I love reading novels and cookbooks. Cecelia AhernJennifer Wiener, and Jodi Picoult are some of my favorite authors…just to name a few. My favorite cookbook so far is The Art and Soul of Baking. Every now and then I’ll read a non-fiction book if the topic is of great interest to me. Reading is my sanity!
