Okay, where to even begin? I feel like I’ve missed telling you about so much—this blog’s 2nd birthday, my 1-year wedding anniversary, and my very own birthday…that’s right, the big 3-0. October is my most favorite month of all and somehow the whole month has just passed by in a blur. Sigh.
At least it’s still fall though, and the weather is BEYOND gorgeous! Not only did the hubs and I take a lovely fall walk, I also sat out on the balcony and soaked up the sun while the crisp air swirled around me…all while listening to a few good songs. Speaking of, tell me you’ve listened to Adele’s new song?! Hello. Do it.
How about a big happy 2nd birthday to Love.Bake.Read? :o) I can hardly believe it, let me tell you! I’ve been blogging for 2 years…where does the time go? There’s so much I still want to do here in this little space of mine. I want to continue to learn, grow, cook, bake, and just enjoy!
For now though, it’s just about getting back to the basics. And by that I mean blogging consistently again. Boy, I did not mean to fall so far off track. You know, I can count on probably one hand exactly how many home-cooked meals I’ve made in the last two months or so. How awful is that? Life, I tell ya. You’re probably wondering what exactly we’ve been eating then? Well, avocado toast topped with a fried egg. Home-cooked…yes, technically. But, we’ve had it a million and a half times now. Ha! I should probably be embarrassed by that. Then again, avocado toast never gets old. Am I right?
Now for our 1-year wedding anniversary!! How in the world has an entire year already passed by?! We celebrated by returning to the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia where we got married. It was the most relaxing 5 days everrrrr. And at the most needed time.
We enjoyed a few low-key days in Woodstock just soaking up the country life. Then we headed to Showalter’s Orchard in Timberville—where we got married last October—before returning to By the Side of the Road Inn & Cottages in Harrisonburg for a few more relaxing days. Oh my word, the inn!! We stayed in the exact same suite as last year and it was fabulous. Everything we hoped for and more. I’ll probably write more about our trip in a separate post, so I can include all the yummy food we ate. Such a wonderfully relaxing vacation! We’re simple people, what can I say?! :)
And now for the big 3-0! Turning 30 makes me feel super old—ahhh! I still feel 25 though and that’s probably all that really matters, right? That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. We celebrated very simply by enjoying a lovely early dinner at Agrodolce, a super delicious Italian restaurant. It was our first time eating there and it was amazing!!
We chowed down on some delicious rosemary and roasted garlic focaccia with olive tapenade, followed by mozzarella-stuffed risotto balls. Yep, that was just the appetizers. For our meals, I had wild mushroom gnocchi and the hubs had fettucine alfredo with roasted squash and pumpkin seeds. Oh.my.goodness. For dessert, we picked up a cream cheese-filled pumpkin roll from the Lancaster County Dutch Market and enjoyed a big ol’ slice with a cup of pumpkin spice coffee. In other words…perfection!
I will wrap up for now, but please just bear with me as I get back into the flow of things. For me that means blogging consistently, cooking dinner, baking up some desserts, working out regularly, and getting back to yoga. I think it’s just about time to kick-off another 30-days of yoga challenge. What say you?
Lastly, let me toss out an inspiring quote to help get life back on track…:)
Psst! I downloaded a few updates on my site, and I just noticed a few funky things going on. Thanks for hanging in there while I work to fix the issues. :)
