Sometimes all you need in life is a warm cup of coffee. You know, just a little something to sooth the soul and calm the mind. After yet another hectic week, I’m settling in for a coffee date here in this little space (click here for previous Coffee Date posts). What say you, are you up for it? :)
Ever since coming home from vacation in July, the weeks have passed quickly. How it’s already September is beyond me. Whew. My days are so full that they tend to fly on by and blur together, so it’s always lovely when the weekend rolls around. The good news? A long weekend is coming right up. Yesssss. I’m pretty good at sensing when I need a break…and the time is now. Good timing. Funny how that works, eh?
I’m looking forward to spending the weekend finishing the book I’m currently reading—High Price: A Neuroscientist’s Journey to Self-Discovery That Challenges Everything You Know About Drugs and Society by Dr. Carl Hart. It’s been extremely eye opening so far and is definitely a good read. I kind of had an epiphany recently and am just trying to expand my horizons a bit. So far, so good.
I have 2 other books waiting in line to be read too. Both are memoirs that are food-related, which I love—It Was Me All Along by Andie Mitchell of the blog Can You Stay for Dinner and Delancey by Molly Wizenberg of the blog Orangette. Have you read either? Can’t wait to read ‘em!
So really, it just wouldn’t be right not to acknowledge that I’ve missed a few blog posts recently. It’s true, unfortunately. I missed a Sunday post a few weeks back because I needed a bit of a break for my mind, so I spent a few good hours at the pool, soaking up the rays, listening to some music. Last Thursday I missed posting because my hubby came home from a work trip to San Francisco and we decided to head out for a yummy Italian dinner. And by that I mean I had an incredible margherita pizza allll to myself. To.die.for. Then I missed posting on Tuesday this week because I just simply couldn’t squeeze another ounce of energy out after a long day.
I think it’s safe to say the last few weeks have been a bit out of whack. A definite lack of homemade dinners, some skipped workouts, a few missed posts. Such is life sometimes, right?! I am so reliant on a set routine that when one thing goes off track…so does everything else. Oops! Time to hit the refresh button, if I do say so myself. This tends to happen a few times a year for me. Same for you?
While it’s hard to believe it’s September, I’m already looking forward to October. Call me crazy! October marks my 1 year wedding anniversary (how did that happen?!), my 2 year blog anniversary, and my 30th birthday. Oh my! That last one there is kind of freaking me out. That’s normal though, right? That’s a lot to celebrate in one month, but I’m super excited! The hubs and I also hope to take some time out for a vacation of sorts, so that’ll be lovely!
I’m sure I could talk a ton more, but my brain is just kind of fried. Hey, I believe in honesty, what can I say? I hope your week has been well, but I hope your weekend is better! Here’s to a calm, stress-free, sun-filled weekend. Nothing sounds better! :) Enjoy, friends.
