Hiya! Good to be back, finally.

I actually never intended to take a break, but we traveled home to the Mitten (Michigan, of course) for the 4th of July to visit family and well…my routine got all messed up. So, so typical when away from home. Same for you?

Whenever we’re in Michigan, we go to bed too late (remember, we’re old at heart), wake up later than usual, and our meals are all out of whack. Plus, my mind hardly stays intact. Sooo much noise and chaos we’re no longer used to. We were so exhausted that we may or may not have slept for 10+ hours last night. Thank you, family! ;)

I’m slowly coming back to life. Thank goodness.

We did actually keep up with our workouts, which was nice. The only hiccup was that we arrived on a Friday, and couldn’t hit the gym until Monday, which was a bummer…but at least we got out for a long walk over the weekend. Mosquitos, humidity, and all.

Oh, and I kept up with my 30 days of yoga challenge. Yay! 4 days left to go.

We didn’t actually do a whole lot except spend time with family, which was the point of the trip after all. Both mine and Steve’s family live near each other, so we were able to see everyone. Plus, my sister and her kiddos came up from Florida too, just like last summer (see here and here). Most of our time was spent out at my other sister’s house, so that the kids could run free in her huge yard. So necessary!

While I didn’t actually snap any pictures, we did have some good food. We met up with my bestie and her fiancé for sushi, and it was sooo good! Especially the calamari. Then we enjoyed some Mexican food with Steve’s parents as well as some Italian food. Quite a variety of goodness. Super yum!

As for homemade food, my mom made us some cheesy veggie pasta the first night we were there and that was delish! We also had homemade taco salad and bean & veggie soup thanks to my mom and sisters. Oh, and let’s not forget the fresh Sicilian bread Steve and my mom made. Mmm! We had more cheesy pasta to go with that. You see, the way to my heart is obviously through cheese.

And because Steve and I really enjoy peace and quiet, we made our way to either Tim Hortons or Panera Bread a few times to just chill out, relax, and sip a few cups of joe. Nothing better! :)

You can expect a new post on Tuesday, but until then, here are a few more pictures from our trip.
